Hampton High School is very proud of all it's former graduates. Throughout the years, over three thousand students have graduated from Hampton High School and the Hampton High School Scholarship and Bursary Foundation would like to acknowledge those graduates by including them on our website.

Lisa McGinnis: Class of 1994
After high school, Lisa attended UNBSJ, majoring in psychology and minoring in criminal justice. She graduated with honours in 1998. During her time at UNBSJ she worked as a nannie for one of the Irving families and as a tour guide at the Loyalist House. In 1999, Lisa began working for Irving Oil in Fredericton before moving back to Saint John to work at the Irving Oil Marketing Center in 2000. Three years later, she became Executive/Legal Assistant to the company’s General Counsel. In 2004 Lisa married Greg Richard from Quispamsis, an employee of Irving Pulp & Paper. The couple moved to Hampton in 2005 and two years later welcomed their first child, Brianna. Lisa resigned from her position at Irving Oil to stay at home full time. In 2010, a second daughter, Laura, arrived. Lisa hopes to see her daughters also become graduates of Hampton High School.
Erin Powe: Class of 2003Erin Powe is the recipient of a scholarship from the Foundation's general fund. After graduating from Hampton High School, she attended the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton and graduated from there in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Geology with Honours. She then moved to Thompson, Manitoba to work for Vale Ltd, a large mining company. She has gotten engaged in July 2010 to Jonathan Gravel, who she met at UNB, with plans to marry in fall 2012. In early 2011 she moved to Brisbane, Australia due to her fiancés job. Erin is currently working for a small consulting firm in Australia, doing some coal exploration in geology. She will be returning to Canada (in Vancouver) in November 2011.

Julie Copland: Class of 1995
In 1995, Julie Copeland was the Class Valedictorian and winner of the Governor General’s Bronze Medal as academic Class Leader. She went on to complete her BSc degree with a double major in Biology and Psychology at UNBSJ and received the Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medal for the highest standing in the Faculty of Science, Applied Science and Engineering. She subsequently moved to Toronto to attend medical school at the University of Toronto. Upon completion of her medical school training, she did a 2 year Rural Family Medicine Residency at Western University in Ontario. In 2005, she opened her rural family medicine practice in Mount Brydges, Ontario. Two years later, she joined the Faculty of Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine at Western University, and for the past 6 years has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. She is currently the Rural-Regional Program Director for Family Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine, and works as a rural family doctor training medical students and family medicine residents at her teaching clinic in Mount Brydges where she is the Centre Director.
Matthew throop: CLASS OF 1999 Matthew Throop graduated from Hampton High School in 1999. He then completed a degree in Kinesiology at UNB. He attended UNSJ for the first year and finished his degree at UNB Fredericton. Once he completed his Kinesiology degree, he was accepted into the education program at UNB. After graduating Matt worked in the Fredericton area supply teaching for a year before moving back to Darlings Island parenting their two young sons.

Cody Brown: Class of 2008After graduating, Cody spent a year in the Engineering program at the University of Calgary before determining that this course was not right for him. He worked for a couple years before attending the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, enrolling in Software Development. Cody graduated with honours in April 2013 and currently works as an Oracle database technician at ConocoPhillips.

Shawnesty Smith: Class of 2008Shawnesty graduated from Hampton High School in 2008 and is the recipient of the Hampton Pharmasave Scholarship. She attended Memorial University of Newfoundland. At Memorial University she pursued a Bachelor’s of Science with a major in Applied Math and a minor in French. She graduated from Memorial in May 2012 and has married. In September of 2012, Shawnesty began the Business Administration program at NBCC and plans to graduate in 2014 with a diploma in Business Administration - Accounting. She aims to become a Certified General Accountant.

Cody Spence: Class of 2008Cody is the recipient of the Ronald H. Machum Memorial Scholarship and Bursary Fund Award, and following graduation she left for Nova Scotia where she enrolled in a digital film making program in Halifax. She graduated in December 2009. Shortly after that, in March 2010, she landed a job as a lead picture editor with RPM Productions, located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Since beginning her career Cody has edited a series of human rights commercials for the Newfoundland and Labrador government, as well as created nearly 30 videos, including an Atlantic wide commercial campaign, for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s Faces campaign (doeverything.ca), numerous commercials in Nova Scotia, and corporate videos of everything from wind farms to Maritime immigration.
Outside of work, Cody has edited two short films that were selected as part of the 2010 Atlantic Film Festival (Crowd favorite “Whatever It Takes” and the grindhouse flick “Bunny Hunt”). She has cut music videos for up and coming artists Jon Mullane and Eco-Shock, as well as the documentary and commercial for the inaugural Hopscotch Hip Hop festival in downtown Halifax. She is currently in the process of writing a feature length Halloween drama with some fellow film friends. As well as shooting festival shorts for the coming fall. A lot has happened since graduating from Hampton High School; she started her career before turning 21. Saying that, “I started my career before I turned 21, and it’s been an incredibly fun and rewarding adventure, where not a single day feels like work.” |
Brad Trecartin: Class of 2008Brad is the recipient of the Clary Wilbur Memorial Scholarship. After graduating from Hampton High School in 2008, he started working towards a Business Administration Degree at the University of New Brunswick; he expects to finish in 2012. While at UNBSJ he has enrolled in the Co-op program giving him the opportunity to work at the Department of Energy and Saint John Energy. In 2009 he became the founding president of UNBSJ's newest club on campus - called the UNB SVU (Student Volunteer Unit). This group of dedicated students helps volunteer on campus and out in the community for various worthy causes.
In the winter of 2011, Brad was lucky enough to be accepted in the Student Abroad Program where he studied in Poitiers, France for his winter semester, earning credits towards his degree, practicing his French, and travelling, of course. In the Spring of 2011 he was also elected as a councilor to the UNBSJ's student representative council for the 2011/2012 year. Besides school, Brad is still very active in the community, organizing fundraisers and volunteering for the Nauwigewauk Community Club and the John Peters Humphrey Foundation. Also since graduating from Hampton High he has become a member of the Hampton Curling Club executive and run the Junior and Little Rock Program for the club. |
Emily Kennedy: Class of 2009Emily is currently enrolled as a music performance major at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. She is a 2009 recipient of a scholarship from the general fund of the Hampton High School Scholarship and Bursary Foundation. Though she is interested in various forms of music, she is studying in hopes of becoming a chamber musician, so that she may someday perform around the world with a string quartet.
Jess Blenis: Class of 2006Jess graduated as “Class Musician” of Hampton High School before attending Memorial University of Newfoundland. With the university’s chamber orchestra, she travelled to St. Petersburg, Russia in 2007. Jess has received numerous awards for her musical work, such as being the grand prize winner in the Gower Community Band Composition Competition for a four movement piece for full band entitled "Asteroid B-612" and winning the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador's Arts and Letters Composition Competition for a piano piece entitled "Tapstyles", both in 2009. The following year, Jess completed her Bachelors of Music degree and was awarded second place in the Gower Community Band Composition Competition for a piece entitled "RAH RAH RAH”.In 2011, she completed a Bachelor of Music Education and served a musical teaching internship at the Burnt Mill School for Performing Arts in Harlow, England.A year later, Jess was accepted to study a Masters of Music at the University of Calgary.

Stuart Ryan: Class of 2009Stuart Ryan is the 2009 recipient of the Titusville Comminity Hall fund award. Since graduating in 2009, Stuart has gone to Mount Allison University. For the first year and a half he studied science, focusing on biology and chemistry. However, he realized that fine arts was where he belonged, so he switched programs and is set to graduate from Mount Allison in 2014. He has been really involved at Mount Allison University, working with habitat for humanity and having gone on 3 collegiate challenges. He has served as the executive of the group as the fundraiser as well as president for the chapter. He also serves on the Mount Allison orientation committee, planning orientation activities. He has served as a residence executive as social chair and has been awarded the Presidents Spirit Cup for his residence as well as residence of the year. Aside from these, the other 2 major things Stuart is involved with are Best Buddies Canada and a program called SMILE where every Saturday he goes to the YMCA in Amherst and volunteers with special needs kids.
Stuart has spent a summer in British Columbia working at a special needs camp called Zajac Ranch for Children. This confirmed for him that he wanted to dedicate his life to special needs and after MTA he would like to pursue a career in art therapy. He has plans to travel to Thailand with a student volunteer group to work on elephant preservation as well with abandoned elephant calves on a reserve. All plans are on hold for that right now but will hopefully be finalized soon. |
Megan Kyle: Class of 2010Megan was the 2010 recipient of the Clary J. Wilbur Memorial Scholarship. The fall after graduating she entered into an Interior Decorating course at Eastern College in Moncton. She really enjoys college and feels it is what she was meant to do. She will finish her course and begin her field placement in March 2012, which will hopefully turn into a job.

Brittany McNulty: Class of 2010Brittany received a scholarship from the Hampton High School Scholarship and Bursary Foundation’s General Fund. She is currently pursuing a bachelor of science at UNBSJ and expects to graduate in the Fall of 2014. Brittany hopes to receive further education to become a dental hygienist. She has remained involved with Hampton High School since her graduation; Brittany has volunteered as choreographer for the Glee Club and has been hired by the Theatre Company to choreograph the musical productions.

Andrea is the 2010 recipient of the Ellen-Anne Flynn Memorial Scholarship. She attended her first year at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and then took a year off and discovered what her true passion was. She has been accepted into the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design and will be starting her first year soon.

Nic Robichaud was the recipient of the Tyler Henderson Award in 2011. Upon graduation from Hampton High School, he attended UNB Saint John and UNB Fredericton and has since graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with First Division Distinction in Mathematics. Nic has now returned to UNB to obtain his Bachelor of Education. He plans on graduating in July 2016 and pursuing a teaching career in high school Mathematics and French.

Rhea Malatestinic: Class of 2011Rhea Malatestinic is the recipient of the Hampton Pharmasave Scholarship. Following graduation, Rhea headed to Dalhousie University where she is enrolled in the science program with the hopes of becoming an architect.
Ben Evans: class of 2020Ben Evans was the 2020 recipient of the Glenna (Morgan) Geer Scholarship. He intends to get a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, and then go on to complete a Masters in Physiotherapy.
Hannah Macneil: Class of 2020Hannah MacNeil was the 2020 recipient of the General Scholarship. She hopes to become a nurse, saying that she "feels like helping people would be a great path".
Bridget Honeyman: Class of 2021Bridget Honeyman was one of the recipients of the General Scholarship for 2021. She is taking a Bachelor of Interior Design at the Algonquin college in Ottawa, and intends to open her own interior design company in the future.
Mary Rose Gallagher: Class of 2021Mary Rose Gallagher was the 2021 recipient of the Paul Richard Martin Scholarship. She is attending NBCC for Electrical Engineering, but also hopes to pursue a career in Animation at a later date.
Xavier Walker: class of 2021Xavier Walker was the 2021 recipient of the Doreen Damon Scholarship. He intends to become a Financial Accountant.
Erin Cousins: class of 2021Erin Cousins was the 2021 recipient of the John Peters Humphrey Scholarship, as well as the Andy Calkin Scholarship. She will be pursuing her dream job as a high school English Teacher.
Rivers Keirstead 2015Rivers Keirstead was the recipient of the 2015 Bob and Ann McLeod Remembrance Scholarship. She graduated from the concurrent BA/ BEd program at UNBSJ in 2020 with first class honours and distinctions. It was there that she discovered her passion for history and education. Her history honours thesis, "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Veterans of the Second World War" was inspired by her grandfather Major Howard Keirstead who served overseas in the Italian Campaigns of the Second World War with Bob McLeod (to whom the HHS Scholarship was dedicated).
A passion for veteran health and history led Rivers to pursue her MA in History under the supervision of expert military historians at UNBF's Gregg Center. She is currently in her second year of the program and is working on her masters thesis entitled "The Efficacy of the Royal Canadian Legion in Supporting Veterans from 1928 to Present.'' She was awarded the prestigious SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship for the final year of her studies. In addition to pursuing her education, Rivers has begun supply teaching part-time with the hope of becoming a high school teacher. In this way she can pass on her love of learning and passion for history to a new generation of students. JONATHAN MARTIN: CLASS OF 2007
Jonathan Martin graduated from Hampton High School in 2007 receiving a bursary from The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 28. In the fall of 2007, he attended UNBSJ enrolled in a Chemical Engineering program. In 2008 he continued his degree at UNB Fredericton, entering the work coop program. For the next 2 years he studied at UNB Fredericton and did two work terms at Suncor Energy Inc. in Fort McMurray, Alberta providing him with hands-on learning experience. It was at Suncor he met his future wife. In 2011 he studied for a semester and then was accepted for a work term at Upside Engineering Inc., in Calgary, Alberta. Returning to Fredericton in May 2012 he then travelled experiencing life in Southeast Asia for the summer. In September 2012 he returned to his studies, graduating in May 2013 on the Dean’s List with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Jonathan relocated to Calgary permanently after graduation in 2013 where he has spent the past 3 years working as a process engineer at Upside Engineering Ltd, and Intergrated Sustainability Consultants Ltd. while also co-founding a renewable energy development company focused on developing wind and solar projects in both Canada and the US.
Caleb Shephard: CLASS OF 2008At his graduation in 2008, Caleb Shephard was the recipient of the Tyler Henderson Scholarship. He attended UNBSJ for the first two years of his studies in Bachelor of Arts program. Realizing this was not for him, he left UNB in 2010 to work. In 2011 he applied to NBCC to The Power Engineering program and was put on a waiting list. He continued to work until 2013 when he got accepted into the program Process Control Technician at NBCC. This was a two year program with a work term, for his work term Caleb was interviewed and was one of four students in the program to be selected to work for Irving Oil. In June 2015 he graduated and now works full time for Irving Oil.
Erin Shephard: CLASS OF 2009Erin Shephard graduated in 2009 receiving a scholarship from the Scholarship and Bursary Foundation. Upon graduation Erin attended The Academy of Hair Design graduating in 2011. Working in this industry for a while she realized this was not the career for her and in 2013 she was accepted into the Bachelor of Sciences at UNBSJ, and the Nursing Program in the fall of 2014. Erin currently is finishing her third year of the program and resides in the Hampton area.

Liam hoyt: class of 2020Liam Hoyt was the 2020 recipient of the Ellen-Anne Flynn Memorial Scholarship. He also received a scholarship from the Kings County Retired Teacher's Association. He is currently planning to get his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education.
Jillian Jeddore: class of 2020Jillian Jeddore was one of the 2020 recipients of the Bob and Ann McLeod Scholarship. She hopes to have a career in human rights, while also pursuing her passion for photography.
Jenna Megarity: Class of 2021Jenna Megarity is the 2021 recipient of the R.H. Machum scholarship. She intends to attend UNBSJ and then Oulton College to be a dental hygienist.
Emily Foster: Class of 2021Emily Foster was one of the recipients of the General Scholarship for 2021. She is attending Holland College for Wildlife Conservation.
Gillian Calvert: class of 2021Gillian Calvert was one of the recipients of the Bob and Ann McLeod scholarships for the 2021 year. She is attending UNBSJ and hopes to become a counselor.
Julia LAmb: Class of 2021Julia Lamb was the 2021 recipient of the Glenna (Morgan) Geer Scholarship. She is attending UNBSJ to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration. She plans on becoming a Certified Professional Accountant.
Emilee Smith: class of 2021Emilee Smith is the 2021 recipient of the Titusville Community Scholarship. She is taking a Bachelor of Science, which will set her on a path to become a Pharmacologist.
Meg Gates: class of 2011Meg is the 2011 recipient of the Bob and Ann McLeod Remembrance Scholarship. Following graduation, Meg attended the University of New Brunswick and completed her Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology. Meg went on to study veterinary medicine at The Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island. She graduated from the Doctor of Veterinary Program in 2019 with special interests in equine and small animal medicine. Meg is currently providing veterinary services for dogs, cats and horses in the greater Saint John and Sussex area as an Associate Veterinarian with the Dr. Mitchell Downey Professional Corporation
Eric Gates: class of 2014After graduating 2014 and very humbly being awarded the Bob and Ann McLeod Remembrance Scholarship, I continued my education at UNB Fredericton by pursuing a BSc in Biology-Chemistry. My time at UNB helped me uncover my passion for scientific research and led to an undergraduate honors research project in Organic Chemistry. After completing my studies at UNB, I then decided to continue down the path of research by enrolling in a PhD (Medicinal Chemistry) at The University of Ottawa in 2018. I am now in my last year of my PhD and hope to continue studying and learning about the wonderful world of science by applying for a Post –Doctoral Fellowship or entering the pharmaceutical industry after graduation next year. I am thankful for all the opportunities I have had thus far in my academic career, which were initiated by The Bob and Ann McLeod Remembrance Scholarship.
Brianne Seeley: CLASS OF 2004In 2004 Brianne Seeley graduated from Hampton High School. Furthering her education, she attended Dalhousie University where she completed a Bachelor of Science with a major in chemistry and a minor in math. She went on to obtain her Bachelor of Education from UNB Fredericton and began her teaching career at Hampton High School as a math teacher. After leaving Hampton High School, Brianne spent several years teaching primarily science and math courses at Saint john High. In 2014, Brianne completed her Master of Education in Science teacher at Rothesay High School. She continues to reside on the Kingston Peninsula with her husband and is looking forward to building a solar and wind powered home there this summer.
Anthony Leblanc: CLASS OF 2008Anthony Leblanc graduated in 2008 receiving The Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce Award. Furthering his education, he attended St. Mary’s University in Halifax Nova Scotia, graduating in 2012 on The Dean’s List with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Anthony then returned to Hampton working for his father’s electrical business. He then enrolled at NBCC in the Electrical program. Anthony continues to work and reside in the Hampton area just purchasing his first home.
Zoe Boyd: CLASS OF 2007Zoe Boyd graduated in 2007 from Hampton High School and was the recipient of The Paul Martin Memorial Scholarship. She spent the summer in Edmonton before she began her university career. She attended both the University of New Brunswick and New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in Fredericton where she obtained Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in 2012. While living in Fredericton she worked a few jobs in retail, which is when she realized that she enjoyed being in the fashion environment. At Craft College she focused on Fashion Design and has since pursued a career in the retail fashion industry. She now resides in uptown Saint John and works in a men’s clothing boutique as part of the management team.
Amanda Boudreau: CLASS OF 2011Amanda Boudreau received The John Peters Humphrey Citizenship Award in 2011. Upon graduation she attended UNB Saint John in the Science/Arts program with an interest in becoming a pharmacist. After shadowing pharmacists, she realized that this was not the career path for her and decided it was time to make a change. Enrolling in International Development at UNB Fredericton, she was heavily involved in the World University Service of Canada, attending a leadership conference in Ottawa and then establishing this program at UNB Fredericton. It focuses on bringing young refugees to Canada and transitioning them into our universities through funding and support.
In 2013 Amanda applied and was accepted into the Nursing Program at UNB Saint John for September 2013. It was in 2014 during her first clinical rotation in geriatric medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital she developed a passion for nursing. Continuing her studies in the Nursing Program, she had the opportunity to live in and work in Calgary for the summer of 2015. Amanda worked for a Pediatric Cardiologist as his research assistant. Her main project was the pediatric heart transplant study, where she was assigned to review charts and input data into the study database for patients from Alberta and BC. As a result of the experience, she gained she was selected to work on two systematic reviews under three Professors at UNB Saint John. In the summer of 2016, she returned to Calgary to work for Dr. Greenway again on a cardiac medication project. In August 2016 she travelled to Aarthus Denmark as one of three international students to complete a master's level Global Infectious Disease Course. In May 2017 Amanda will graduate from the nursing program and take her NCLEX exam to become a registered nurse. |
